Starting at about the 30 second mark on the video. So now a coach can't comment on a player's work ethic without it being racist. Why, why, why does it always have to be about race?

So are you saying there is no possibility it could be racist?

I'm saying that since I've never heard anybody else suggest Steve Spurrier is a racist I'd assume he said Clowney had shitty work ethics because Clowney has shitty work ethics, not for any other reason.

everytime a white person says something negative about a black person there's racial undertones.

MFing this.

Steve Spurrier may be many things, but I highly doubt he's a racist.

"Marcus Lattimore has an outstanding work ethic" - good for him

"Clowneys work ethic was OK, but some were better" - do you hate black people?

After watching the video, it doesn't seem like the reporter is asking if Clowney thinks Spurrier's comments were racially based. It seems more like she was asking about criticism in general.

But it was still out of nowhere and stupid.

Spurrier has coached thousands of black kids and white kids too. He's coached Clowney for 3 years. I don't think he'd talk about arguably his most talented player ever and just give out a general, message board esque "lazy black kid" response. He probably said it because he meant it and would probably be happy to tell you 10 black guys on his team that have great work ethic. If anything the "bad work ethic" bias stems from the fact that the expectations for Clowney were so ridiculous he is being judged by a higher standard.

Because of two reasons.

1) Race baiters who use racial division for their own political gain.

2) Stupid fricking dumbasses who actually believe that stuff.

Most people are level headed enough to get past race, I believe.

God, that reporter sucks.

She names 3 black guys that Spurrier glowed about their work ethic...

And then asks Clowney if the criticism against him has "racial undertones."

Sometime I think reporters get handed slips of paper before interviews that say:

"Now bring up shite from the 70's - talk about lazy blacks and no black QBs!"
