Not smart ? Jason Blum made the first one for $3m and it took in over 100$ m. ..... They spent around $11 on this one with a better production team and more time to shoot it. It will do well.
Blumhouse is one of the smartest movie models going and the studios have jumped in on it

It does look better than the first but the first had a pretty great trailer too.
That said I still liked the first one and will see the sequel eventually. Probably not theaters but ill watch

This one seems more like what would actually happen if they did this every year. I probably won't see it in the theater, but I'll see it eventually.

i like how they did a sequel and changed the perspective
this looks like a campy bad movie, but i admire the choice in setting/framing for the sequel

Do people not realize, that being good at making money does not automatically make you smart? I think business savvy would be a better term. Maybe he is smart, and just decided to make the movie, as ridiculous as it is, because he wanted to make money. No shame in that and honestly he could probably care less what any of us think.
But, the concept of the movie is incredibly flawed and retarded. That, I would hope, could be agreed on by everyone.

They aren't trying to win oscars. It's just another stupid, impossible premise like Hunger Games, but it's somewhat entertaining and it obviously makes money. If they were going for high art, I'd say they weren't smart, but they're going for money and they're going to get it. Seems smart enough, anyway, given the goal.

Hollywood makes a product that others eat up/pay money for and Hollywood makes a profit. So who aren't the smart people here?
How hard is it to be smarter than the average American?
Anyone that thinks the purge was anything other than stealing from the stupid needs help

Actually, I'd say it's an audience participation catharsis. The first one focused on one house, one family, so it failed to provide this. I wanted to at least see cutscenes of cities in which people were robbing and wasting each other, just for a sense of perspective and the intensity of the overall environment during this time. The second one appears to focus on this.
And it's not all that far fetched. This is pretty much exactly what happens during times of war, in "the fog." It's not totally lawless, but it's damn close.
Remember that during the Marxist revolution when greasy negroes are impregnating your wife.

When do reviews start coming out? I want to know if it's worth going to see this weekend or not.
