Country Club of Louisiana, hence the 25,000 initial fee
Not 100% accurate. I hear they are abotu to roll out a differed/reduced I.Fee to junior (under 35) which they have never done before.
Their membership is aging and they want to mix a younger crowd.

BRCC
is not that good. I think of it as a better kept oaks at sherwood. Same terrible layout.
RIP oaks
David Toms just redid it as well. Way better greens, way better grass, way more undulation, way less people on the course.
BRCC is in a 3-way tie for best course in BR. UClub, CCL, and BRCC. Depends on which day you hit each one, but each have their downfalls and benefits. All are different, but all are top notch.

This is somewhat true...
Bu then again there is not too many people under 35 with the time or money

The quality is there.
But it is a pretty typical course.
Unlike UClub, The Bluffs, or CCL which are more resort style courses than metropolitan clubs.

CCL was actually created out of "necessity" by another group of BR "new money" that were not allowed membership at BRCC.
Come on man.

ask around. You'll see
It's not as cut and dry as I phrased it. but that is a well known narrative of the history of both clubs around BR.

Fishing
Golf
It's amazing I have ever saved a dime

same way people buy 70k f-250s, 50k bay boats, multiple atv's
not knocking, but we all spend money in different ways and on different things. I choose to spend mine on golf.

I guess my question after reading this, which of the three clubs (UClub, BRCC, and CCL) would y'all join?
Distance from your house isn't an object, but money is an object.

Well if I ask around I'll probably find a few morons who tell me the moon is made out of cheese too.
I was around when CCLA and Santa Maria were being developed. They were built because Baton Rouge had shitty golf courses and people wanted a better place. Santa Maria was slightly behind and in a bad market among other things.
BRCC is sherwood without the ditch. A social club. They spruced it up a little but it's limited.
It's true that there is a frick ton of new money at CCLA and the old money is at BRCC. The truth in your statement stops there.

I didn't write the narrative. I'm too young to know first hand. I have just heard it quite consistently over the years from older members of both places. Granted many more of the BRCC folk propogate it than CCL folk for obvious reasons. No need to get defensive.
I'd pick CCL over BRCC everyday of the week and twice on Sunday

They all have pros and cons. Out of the three UC and CCLA have better courses. CCLA is much more cost and has an older membership. UC is affordable but i have heard rumblings about over crowding. Truely if the bluffs would be less hit and miss on condition that would be the place. UC does have a great practice range.

I'd say ccl was old money but younger in age when it formed.. They were being pushed around by the old timers at brcc. Santa Maria was the new money and unfortunately went belly up.

I understand the desire for the rich to have their sanctuaries.
However, golf had better figure out the proper business model to get average, middle-class people interested without breaking the bank, or it is doomed. Look at all of the closed country clubs around: Sherwood, Fairwood, etc.
There has to be a way to balance playability, challenge and profitability into a public accessible facility. In other words, a balancing point between CCLa and BREC. The rising price of equipment and green fees are resulting in fewer rounds played. That's not healthy for the sport.

See, idk what to believe any more. Out of one side the mouth I hear that, out the other side I hear dissension in the ranks over the vastly more difficult redesign.

This is better than I put it. I guess I worded it wrong.
