My best friend of over 20 years, El Josey Wales, was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer last October. He lived 47 days and I was in contact with him in some capacity up until 8 hours before he passed away. The only thing I can offer is this....

Be sure to be there for him offering comfort in any capacity every step of the way. The cancer fight is brutal for everyone involved. Nothing about it is fair and there is no way you can explain it. EJW never used tobacco in his life and this type of cancer killed him. It still does not make sense two and a half months later, and I'm sure it never will.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.

Yea a friend of mine in his mid 30s has stage 4 lung cancer and never used tobacco. I remember discussing that with El Josey when he first found out about cancer in his tongue from a thread a while back.

This is what I plan on doing. We have seen each other every day for the last 40 years. He's a tough old bird though and if anyone can fight through it,it would be him. It's just hard to believe out of all my family he would be the one to get cancer first.

El Josey Wales,
I think about him and what he and his family went through often. I don't understand the psychology of it but I feel like I lost a friend although I never met him.
