You have obviously never watched LeBron James play basketball with comments like "he's not that cerebral." One of James' biggest flaws is that he overthinks the game instead of just attacking. He's naturally the exact opposite of what you're suggesting here.
You frickin kidding? He's the best athlete to ever play basketball. That is his whole game. Just because he passes to shooters doesn't mean he has a genius basketball iq

Yea. He is definitely a more cerebral player than Larry Bird and Magic Johnson and Mike and all the other greats....

People have to find ways to hate on Lebron or try and find a flaw to his game. Never seen a player so scrutinized for ever little thing he does. The dude has little to no flaws in his game. He does everything on the court great. Everything. And he's 30 by the way. He's no were near losing his athletic ability. Troll somewhere else. Him and MJ will be in category all alone when it's all said and done. No question about it.

He's good. He is good, but he's not Larry or Magic or even CP3 with court awareness.
He draws a lot of pressure, so passing should be easy. No one would say that court awareness and tempo control and using all that info to know when to shoot is his #1 attribute. It has always been the brawn and the pure physical talent where he can just blow by or over anyone without a second thought. Bball IQ is what made larry and magic legends. That was their thing.
Bird's passing impresses me more
If he had the mind of Bird or Magic or Mike, he'd be the GOAT right now. He's the best athlete of all time and admits that he is still learning and improving all the time.

Sick shot to end the game - most of the year has felt like he has just been slacking off and waiting for the postseason before waking up.
This is only two games but in the last two games he's started looking more like himself from last year and the previous years. BTW that assist video was interesting because I hadn't seen it before. What struck me the most was how young he was when his court vision was already fully developed.

Why can't he be both athleticly and mentally superior? LeBron probably has the best basketball mind in the world. Just cause he didn't play in the 80s/90s doesn't mean he isn't as good as the guys you mentioned.

because if he was, he wouldn't have messed up so many times and been brought to the brink of defeat in the finals last year.
He's not as smart as tim duncan and popavich. If he was, that series wouldn't have been a contest.
ETA- And "overthinking things" means you don't have a great basketball IQ

He was forced into a 27-foot fade-away shot. The defense did its job.
This, perfect D. Hands up, can't do any better than that.
Similar to a perfect pass beats perfect coverage, you can't defend that shot.

Of current players I'd probably say so. And I put PROBABLY in there. It's certainly debatable. Kobe, Tim, KG, Shane, are all up there.

Disagree, I'd much rather force someone to shoot the ball than the best player in the world.

Thought you meant all time.

Duncan and KG are good choices. I'd throw in guys like Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo.
I'd also throw Marc Gasol in there because he runs the defense a lot KG does. They both have the ability to be basically the QB of the defense. They are talking the entire time on defense and helping guys get in the right position. Plus his passing ability is amazing for someone his size.
