Silver Anniversary: Doug Roth of Tennessee flipping off students in LSU home win

anyone else old enough to remember this incident? Home game on "JP" in SEC game of the week at the Assembly Center in Chris Jackson's freshman year.
Roth was a caucasian Tennessee center about 7'0" with short curly hair and goggles as he had only one functioning eye.Interesting looking fellow to say the least. After scoring a basket and maybe hearing one too many catcalls from the LSU student section he lifted his arm and gave an extended "uncomplimentary hand gesture" to the crowd.
Refs saw what he did and immediately gave him a technical and Tennessee coach Don DeVoe took him out and put him on the bench. It was truly hysterical as this guy looked like quite the nerd. Imagine Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory being 7 feet tall.
Oh,and LSU won 122-106

hahaha! I remember that. I was at the game.
Every time he got the ball, usually around the top of the key, the entire student section would chant, "Shoot! Shoot!" knowing that he wouldn't... because, after all, he was a 7-foot center who couldn't shoot.
Some time in the second half, he got the ball, the student section began chanting again... he shot it, he made it, then flipped the students the bird.
those were great times in the PMAC.

I remember it like it was yesterday. CJ put 50 points on them that day. When Roth went to the end of the bench after the technical foul, the students began chanting "Start the bus...start the bus" at Roth. I know...not as cool of a student chant as "suck that tiger dick, bitch", but it was the best us old-timers could do.

I was at that game too. Even saw myself on Inside LSU Basketball that week. CJ did drop 50 that game but by seeing him in person that day I was able to see what a great passer he was.

When he did it, I think the JP commentator described the action with a Doug Roth with a little "How do you do?!"

Remember it quite well. The announcers for JP had a good time with it

Awesome game. UK had a big goofy white center about the same time named Darren Locke or something like that. The students used to ride him without mercy too like that.

I have no idea how we, as students, had a good time at an LSU athletic event without chanting something that had the words "suck", "dick", or "bitch" in it. Amazing.

The students had fun with Vandy's Will Perdue, too.
ETA: LSU played an exhibition game against the Yugoslavian national team one time. They had a player named Yerkov, and the students would chang "Jerkoff, Jerkoff," whenever he got the ball.

Funny old Vandy taunt was for Barry Goheen (sp?), who had some crazy hair
Chants of "comb your hair, comb your hair, comb your hair" came from the student section...

Was he the one who had the ever-popular "butt-cut"? Or was he the short, wormy looking Jewish kid with the Jew-fro? (not that there is anything wrong with being Jewish)

When I was a senior in HS (1983), LSU played Detlef Schrempf and the Washington Huskies in the Deaf Dome. The cry that night was "Dead Shrimp! Dead Shrimp!"
