The true blame rests in the Federal Government and the Congress. Over the years they have spent with each years Social Security receipts, replacing those with IOU's.....
Now that the Boomer's are retiring and drawing Social Security, the funds contributed are not there. Combine fewer workers contributing less to Social Security and the Government still spending like "drunken Sailors", the deficit is going to explode...

SS became an elaborate tax scheme. It's all been spent and now they have to raise more taxes to fulfill promises or raise the age of access.
