What happened to mcgaughey? Hired away or let go? When did this happen?

Special teams is much easier to coach compared to defense. Get someone competent that is the best recruiter.

Hired by the Jets as special teams coordinator. Hired a couple weeks ago, held off on the official announcement until after signing day.

Coverage lanes on kickoff/punts are nothing like defense

Well I don't think they do. But honestly, I don't "know" or "understand" ST like I do defenses. So I fully grant that I could be wrong. But seems to me like those guys were pretty shitty. I fully grant that not everyone is meant to coach everything, i.e., Cam wasn't meant to be a HC but is a home run OC. But shite. They were really bad. Maybe they can do ST. If they get hired, I hope they can. But name association alone makes me impulsively hope for someone else.

I am surprised he is even on the list, dude is a liability.

I remember when he worked under DiNardo and he was trying to organize a March Madness pool in the athletic department. He had printed up a bunch of blank brackets and had $5 per bracket. Everyone was just looking at him, thinking he can't be that stupid.

Thanks for pointing this out. It may be ugly but it worked.

Peveto would be the last choice on there, IMO.

Peveto is sure ready to get back down here for crawfish season that's for sure. We hear he can recruit but could he have made a difference in LSU being #2 in recruting to get us to #1?

Define "worked."

We were 77th in the nation in net punting in 2005, 97th in 2006, 50th in 2007. We also called a fake punt out of our own endzone in Peveto's first game without Miles' knowledge.

We have used punt ugly since Miles got here. We didn't stop when Peveto left. Also, Peveto didn't call the fake punt vs ASU, it was an automatic check. The gunner was uncovered. His defender lined up inside to rush. Chris Jackson did that on his own and picked up the first down.

Are those good punting results?

Do you think Miles felt that it was Chris Jackson's fault to think he had the autonomy to call a fake punt at the 2 since he immediately cussed out Peveto on national TV?

I can't remember the last time LSU had a punt blocked, period.

He had a bad incident in the past, but I think that alone means he has the most to gain by being a model citizen at this point in his life...

BDP was a pretty good linebacker coach and recruiter. We could do worse with him coaching ST's.

Don't know what happened as partial creator of the "Malveto Monster." Well actually, Dr. Milesenstein was the Creator, the one that gave the Monster life.

Hope Lester isn't even serious or thinking twice about bringing the wife beater back to LSU.

Of the three, I'd rather Diaz. Good resume. No baggage. He has experience coaching ST's, plus LB's and DB's too, so he could assist Chavis, allowing the Chief to help out Toast in trying to make some kind of sense out of the Chinese Fire Drill that is the LSU Defensive Secondary. (Or Diaz could take up that enviable task)

That was the fault of the Burger King headset. Or Miles not wearing a windbreaker.

And we also scored two special teams TDs in that game.
