Would not be against it. Dude was a good recruiter.

This. He's actually a pretty damn good recruiter with many connections throughout Louisiana. North and South. He's got more than enough experience.

Hire the candidate who most adamantly refuses to install the punt ugly formation.

I think it comes down to who Les is most comfortable with. Haywood has baggage. Diaz will be looking for a DC job
Les has worked with Peveto a long time and Peveto will probably stay the longest barring a promotion to DC. Remember staff stability is a big plus in recruiting. If those 3 are the choices my money s on Peveto

Peveto was never a good coach. He was a pretty good recruiter but that's about it. He was best buds with Miles too so I could see that being the hire. He has good connections to Texas which is probably what LSU wants. That's a horrible list though. Peveto would be the last choice on there, IMO.

Peveto is a great recruiter with serious Texas ties but all three are connected to Texas.

ETA: My choice for special teams coach will always be Ron Zook - hired by Green Bay - no matter who the
hire is.

Well said, Tiger On the Hill. Of course, it's always best for the powers that be to consult all of the certified experts that we have posting on the rant. To read the messages about the special teams coach [that would be ST to those who haven't enough time to spell out whole words], we have a bunch of folks who have intimate knowledge of the plusses and minuses of all candidates, especially recruiting skills.

Coach Peve is one hell of a recruiter. He can lock down SE Texas for sure.

Rarely does anything else matter coaching ST... unless you're too thickheaded to realize your opponent can actually run that +50YD field goal back to win the game.

Coaching special teams is a very important job ....having a bad coach can cause a team to lose games....it does matter and if you think in doesn't you don't know shite about football....

Why I don't think we ever had a punt blocked using that formation.....

I don't pretend to know a lot about any of these guys. What I do know, Peveto's defense couldn't cover shite. Diaz was awful as a DC. I don't really know shite about Haywood. 2 of those 3 couldn't cover on D, so I'm inclined to think they can't cover on ST. That leads me to say ST coverage would be equally as bad.

But I fully admit that I don't know shite about this. Or the recruiting angle. I just want whoever will make our Tigers better.

Coverage lanes on kickoff/punts are nothing like defense
