The revolutionary war was "treason" as well.
Treason is a word that winners impose on losers who pick the wrong side.
Otherwise we call them heroes.
What about all those who defected to the American side in conflicts? Treasonous scoundrels, right?
What some call terrorists, others call freedom fighters.

The revolutionary war had the will of the people behind it. Burr was not trying to serve anyone but himself, which is why it really had no long term way of working. You need to study a little about this guy before claim that it is remotely similar to the Civil War.
