I guess I can kinda understand what you're implying, but it's really unfair to compare those two schools. Ole Miss hasn't been anywhere near as successful as UCLA, and I shouldn't even have to talk about Oxford vs LA.

Untrue. They're overall winning percentage is just under .600. UCLA is .591. Ole Miss is .566

UCLA claims one National Title. Ole Miss claims 3. Ole Miss was a power at one time.

What if Young doesn't want to be in Louisiana. I love my state, but it's not for everyone. If he wants to move away try living in Cali, that fine. And it's not like he's blackballed from coming back to Louisiana. Plenty of other people from Louisiana who have gone to school elsewhere come to this state for jobs.

I'm not trying to make it sound like Dupre is one of a million guys that can make a UCLA degree work for them after football; I'm just refuting the notion that a UCLA degree is worth more than an LSU degree if football doesn't work out. In a vacuum, the UCLA degree trumps LSU. For the majority of the kids from Louisiana (lots of small town guys that have never left the state) an LSU degree and allegiance will do wonders for them after football.

John Curtis kids have always been more willing to leave the state it seems. Joe McKnight seemed like less of a spotlight guy than recruits today, and he went to USC without knowing anyone out there I believe. Different strokes for different folks

Ole Miss would need a miracle to win the division. UCLA barely missed their conference championship game, and will be considered a top 2-3 team in the PAC-10 for the foreseeable future.

However, all things are not equal here. UCLA plays who, exactly? Much as I hate Ole Must, they actually play a schedule with real football players week in and week out. compare their schedules when you compare their records. 'Bout the same.

But the LSU Alumni give GREAT jobs to the guys who don't make it in the league (or to them after their NFL careers are over)... They are royalty in these parts. In Cali... what are they?? less than not much...

A guy who played for LSU (even when he wasn't as important to the team as these guys could be) become legends. They can write their ticket. And it pretty much doesn't matter where that degree came from.

To Tiger fans, there is not a prettier degree than one from their school... IT TRANSLATES just fine.

Haven't sent to many into the nfl. Haven't done anything in the last 2 decades. That area has always been attractive. Why is
Football attractive all of a sudden?

The same argument applied to LSU in 1999. What did Miami do prior to 1983? FSU before Bowden and on and on. This is how programs get built, a new coach comes in and starts recruiting good players.

However, UCLA has over 20 guys in the NFL currently. Anthony Barr projects as a top 5 pick. QB Hundley also appears headed for the early first. and there are another handful of guys that look to be drafted.

A degree from LSU will get you anywhere you want to be

it sure will. i never dreamed how far when i was a lowly freshman.

but the key determinant is, has been, and always will be the person himself. the degree unlocks the door of opportunity. my degree got me opportunity's with companies hq'ed in new york and philadelphia even when i didn't think the interviewer knew where LSU was located (the thought New Orleans).

undergraduate degree sites are way overrated (ok, harvard or other ivy leagers excepted).

The Pac 12 was easily the 2nd best conference last year and they have plenty of good players.

Let's not forget that UCLA is the king of LA for the time being.

UCLA had a good haul last year (like top 10). This one may be better but it's just incremental momentum. As long as Mora is at UCLA and Sark is at USC, it will remain this way. They will only be a flash in the pan if Mora leaves.

sheeeeeeeit.....Historically Ole Miss has been just as successful as UCLA and in the 21st Century Ole Miss has probably been the better program.

hopefully they have a bad day wednesday. because their gains are our loss.

Is Mora that attractive of a coach?

Defensive players look at what Barr and Jack have done recently and that intrigues them, the team is also perceived to be on a rise.

IMO, you have to see how they do without Hundley to make a real assertion on them as a rising team. If they can recruit another good QB next year, they just may be on the rise. They have a couple decent offensive commits, but most of their talent is on defense.

Then after you see that, you look at how they are one of the top academic schools and then the location and females do the rest.
