I think the primary reason for the recent sell off is because I purchased stocks over the past few weeks...

You sound like me... I actually sold some stock on Wed. Had a stop set on some and it hit that point. It has since fallen another few $s, so that may have been my only good move in a while.
Prob gonna throw a few grand into my Roth today since the market is about 1k off of its high at this point.

Was listening to CNBC on the way into the office... I don't see it right now, but they were saying the Dow in pre was down 200 and thats where they were expecting the open.

I hope I can unwind all of my shorts and VIX this morning.

But...good economy!?!?!?!
Actually, it's the "tapering" along with the less than stellar news from China (remember when the USA's economic poor health caused other countries' stocks to tumble) and the "unexpected" jobless claims numbers: LINK
Couple that with the Candyman's SOTU address and you have the makings of some bad stock mojo.

Amazon is down $40. Any idea on this? It shot up $18 yesterday.

Reaction to the company saying they are going after profits and not revenues... Tied into their announcement of possibly increasing prime membership costs.

Naw, more like PMS.
Remember 07-08? Wake up in the morning and futures down 200, but yet we would end up green or flat by the close.
2014 is going to be volatile. We could see the ECB take action next week and we could rally back to new highs. This long rally that many people hate is very much a global central bank phenomenon. Thus far, there has been good co ordination between the global central banks. When that co ordination breaks down, then and only then do we need to be concerned.
