I am willing to bet he gets a statue within a year after the release of "Pistol"

Yes, they are about to start production on a big budget hollywood movie on the book.

Trust me Pistol will be known to the world after this movie comes out. Since the most famous part of his life was in college LSU will be prominent in the film.

Although, all you sunshine pumpers might be upset that they actually portray how he was in real life.... which is the most amazing part about him. He played like that, and broke those records while he was physically, emotionally, and psychologically fricked up. Could you imagine what he would've done had he been right in the head.

Oh he did not graduate-Who cares!! Then why is his name on the Assembly Center if he did not graduate? He deserves a statue (Large One between the 2 ramps)

Those of us with degrees from LSU. LSU is a university with sports teams, not sports teams with a university.

LSU has a number of buildings named after non-grads.

Yea I never understood why the shaq statue is behind the PMAC.

It's because it is named the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, and the practice facility (in the rear) is named after Shaq. Shaq's statue goes in front of his annex. Pistols statue goes in front of his building.

I think it's dumb that it's BEHIND the PMAC, not that he has a statue.

He is INFRONT of the training facility that he paid for.

I have 2 of these.....and am a 4 time lettermen.

I could not care less if Pistol graduated, or anyone else for that matter.

He deserves it. Just like Jim Taylor, Steve Van Buren, YA, etc. deserve to have their names in the stadium instead of some joeblow that has never had anything to do with the team having his fmaily name plastered all over a gate on the front of the stadium

but why do we need a statue when the whole building is named after him.

pretty ironic question coming from a catholic. n'est pas? I see no reason why a statue of Pete would be inappropriate. a building is just that....a statue to the memory of 'the Pistol' would lend a personal touch to those who saw him play and, more importantly, to those who would strive to emulate his unique passion and discipline to the game. Well, he contributed way more to LSU than most alumni... It's flawed logic.

None of this about academics...

His ballin' skills put LSU basketball on the map.

Nick Saban isn't an alumni nor is the Bear of Alabama...nobody seems to have an issue with it...

why do they do it, mainly for marketing reasons.

I just don't see the reasoning by having to be a graduate.. If you're a legend, then you're a legend...

My bad I thought he graduated from Kentucky for some reason..

I can accept being wrong and I can move on because in principal I am right and on point.

Nick Saban hasn't even retired yet

if Saban takes a job somewhere else I wonder if they tear down the statue like they did to the SH statue in bagdad.

We do have a "statue" of Pete, it's much larger than anything given Bear Bryant at Alabama.

Also, if you ever walk around the concourse of the PMAC, you can find a display devoted to Pete and see a small video clip of highlights.

I can't believe you let one idiot commentator rustle your jimmies this much.

A statue of Pete would be shown on TV all the time (at commercial breaks)..."Back live at the Pete Maravich center, the all time NCAA scorer who averaged 44 per game before the 3 point line"

Actually a great point.

I have a degree from LSU and am in favor of a giant Maravich statue out in front of the PETE MARAVICH Assembly Center. Nope, the name on the building is not enough. The same guy that did the Shaq statue should do the Pistol statue. Start a petition and make it so.
