I love how People in this thread are blaming others for their loved ones becoming addicted to pain pills. News flash it's your loved ones who are at fault, it was a decision they made. My mother is a complete junky when it comes to these pills, she makes that choice and it wouldn't matter if all pain pills where banned she would find something else to get high on, just like all druggies do/would.

My advice quit blaming others for the mistakes of your loved ones.

All these drugs should be over the counter and we should stop wasting time trying to enforce any prohibition of drugs. It's a waste of time and resources. Drug addicts don't care if something is illegal they will do it anyways.think about it like this, how many people do you know addicted to heroin? If we made heroin legal tomorrow how many of the people you know not addicted would go out and shoot up some heroin? None, know why? People don't not use drugs because it's illegal, they don't use it because they aren't junkies. Now think about the people that would use Heroin, do they care that it is illegal? Hell no, so what is the point of wasting all the money on the failed war on drugs?

Now I'm not excusing the idiots in the op of what they did, they broke the existing law and should be punished as so. But for the love of god people in this thread need to stop blaming others for the failures of their family and friends. Btw this is not addressed to any one person, just the five or so posters that are whining about loved one's addicted and the drug problem in BR.

And to save somebody the trouble

I agree with "most" of your post but you need to have a little sympathy for those who have lost a sibling dude. The guy who lost a sibling to drugs has a good point because if these drugs were not available on the street he/she would never have gotten addicted and overdosed. I agree it is a personal decision one makes whether to use or not but you do not know what pushed that person over the edge to do what they did to kill themselves. A little empathy lsu777 goes a long way. You are way too harsh in your judgement of others when you know NOTHING about that person or the struggles they have had to deal with.

Of course it's the fault of the addict. My brother was cruising along fine when after a terrible accident, he got hooked on painkillers in long term care. From there, it was a two year cycle of addiction and despair. And ultimately, death.

My viewpoint takes in THE TOTALITY of the issue however. His self-destructive behavior did not take place in a vacuum. There were many who enabled his behavior. Including people like this who owned nice homes and the accoutrements of success on the misery and addiction of others. They aren't to blame for the behavior of others, but they sure as hell are part of the problem.

With you on the whole legalizing drugs LSU777. We could tax them and regulate similar to ETOH and probably wipe out a HUGE crime element in the US. Think how much crime is driven by drug acquisition, sales, stealing, blackmailing, smuggling, etc. I do think addicts will find drugs or whatever regardless of the law. These people just piss me off because they give good practitoners a bad name and were using the system to make a nice life for themselves-- all the while leading the church marriage ministry and cub scouts, etc. it's scary as a parent. Makes you not really trust anyone. I have more sympathy for addicts than those who are getting rich illegally all the while living like hypocrits.
