This is what I've always wondered as well.
A baby born pre-maturely has a right to life under protection of the law, but a baby that is past the typical 9 month due date (and unborn) has absolutely no rights under the law.
One side fights for the rights of the woman and the other for the rights of the baby. One of those two individuals' right to life is infringing on the other's.

What they are fighting for is in reality the concept that an unborn child is noting more than property, of the woman.
