well this goes beyond that
IF it is accurate.

the district issued the following statement: “The Sabine Parish School Board has only recently been made aware of the lawsuit filed by the ACLU. A lawsuit only represents one side’s allegations, and the board is disappointed that the ACLU chose to file suit without even contacting it regarding the facts. The school system recognizes the rights of all students to exercise the religion of their choice and will defend this lawsuit vigorously.”
Sounds like the ACLU was more interested in suit than solution.
It is possible the school is 100% in the wrong, and it willingly allowed obviously stupid teachers to do obviously stupid things, and to do them in a bigoted way. Certainly would be the case if the ACLU's account is correct.
Facts seem to suffer in this instance though.

E.g.,

quote:

science teacher Rita Roark . . . .

. . . . . While studying other religions, she also has told students that Buddhism is “stupid,” the lawsuit said.
Very odd allegation IMO.

There is no doubt the allegations are true. Crap like this occurs all across America all the time because the perpetrators are never punished... they're all too willing to allow taxpayers to foot the court costs and fines. And the ACLU does not select these cases frivolously. .. you can bet their ducks are all in a row.
