I used to be able to open a fruit stand then the neighbor made my orange tree look like a poodle last weekend and this cold will probably kill it...

I remember, before Katrina, how they used to hose their Satsuma trees down in venice before the freeze. not sure the concept but i'm sure there was a reason due to the fact that their Satsuma farms were freakin massive.

so I might not know right away if it survived?

grampa had a farm down south in houma and would flood the enitre thing before a hard freeze about 250 trees and only lost 1 or 2 in about 15 years

Water freezes at 32 degrees and will not get any colder than that. 32 degrees will not kill the tree and the water was used to save the "core' of the tree and bud union where it was grafted.

If you cover it with a sheet and put a lamp out there with it itll do just fine. Freeze isnt that great for the young ones.

My satsuma looks unfazed. Meyer lemon is a mess of dead leaves.

Smudge pots work the best. If they're not available, water really well, top to bottom and cross your fingers.

Your tree actually looks pretty good. Mine lost all it's leaves weeks ago and newest growth from this past year is dead. Of course it got below 20 degrees two nights in a row where I live. Hopefully it makes a full recovery.
