Want to take the wife and 3 daughters to a mountain/cabin type retreat in Arkansas/Tenessee when its snowing next year. Is Thanksgiving a good time for this? Any suggestions on places to go and time of year to go. Not interested in skiing. Just a good cabin experience kind of vacation. Daughers are 14, 11 and 3.

Thanks in advance.

So obviously Arkansas is not a good option. Please recommend me any good places to take the wife and daughters to a cabin/mountain retreat vacation where there will be snow and recommend me a good time to go.

The later the better... That said, you'll have to be extremely lucky to catch it when it snows. In my experience, it snows up there then melts off in a few days. My family used to have a cabin in Mountain Home, AR fwiw...

Way too early for snow.

Northwest Arkansas gets much more snow (and it stays on the ground longer) than the rest of the state. With that said, Thanksgiving is still very early to have any reasonable chance for snow. Late December through January would be better, but even then it would be a crapshoot. At most, they get maybe 2-3 good snows a year

Have you considered the Ponca area in the late fall? You get really nice temps, beautiful foliage, and bugling elk. It is a really cool experience, although the chance of seeing snow is almost nil.
