Harry Caray is in denial. Astros are the suck.
I'm very aware the Astros currently suck; they just had their worst season in franchise history for the third year in a row. Ignorant and unoriginal insults upset me because those who don't follow the Astros think they're clever by stating the obvious, when they have no idea about the changes made in the rebuilding of the farm system.

The quip about them milking the MLB is totally true. You can still build your farm system while signing free agents, but that would require a franchise to be concerned with more than profits.

Sorry our $100 million offer to Tanaka couldn't really compete with the Yankees.
ETA: and no, signing huge contracts with free agents defeats the purpose and extent of the rebuild. We gotta pay those players major league contracts eventually. And a bunch of old expensive guys would cause a logjam at positions we'd rather younger players to develop.

I may be wrong, but FSNSW is now just FS1, regardless it'll primarily play Rangers games. (for this area)
They own the rights to the astros and the rangers. They choose to show the rangers. Because they own the rights, no one else can show the Astros in this market.
In addition, Baton Rouge is also blacked out of regular coverage because we are less than 250 miles away from Houston. So, if you have the mlb.com package, you won't see them either. It's a cluster

you dont consider that a real offer do you?

For the Astros, I do. I consider that an insane amount actually. There's no way Tanaka is worth $25 million a year.

the MLB blackout rules just blow my mind. I know a few people (myself included) who would have paid for the mlb.com package to watch the Astros, but didn't because of the Baton Rouge blackout

what im saying is they made that offer knowing they were nowhere close to the other teams. that was strictly a PR offer, not legitimate.

Same here, it's the biggest bullshite. Instead I'm reduced to streaming from some site in Japan like the neckbeard I am.

This is how I watch the stros as well.
I called someone associated with the Astros last year and that's how I found out about the TV rights and that FSNO has both the Rangers and the Astros as part of their arrangement.
Their visit to the Box was the closest that we'll get to them all year...without driving to H-town

Like all the Yankees and Red Sox diehards around here? No thanks.
I gotta keep with my Houston roots too.

Because there aren't enough Red Sox/Cardinals/Braves fans around Baton Rouge
