I was being totally serious. B4 internal audit is about getting a name on a resume, acquiring a few certs, meeting a great network of people and gaining exposure to executives at the early stages of your career.

The actual skills you are learning...being an auditor are not skills that many people want to do for the continuation of their careers. The industry knowledge gained in IA is overblown.

Meh, I did the LSUCIA program and it gave me a perfect stepping stone to jump into opportunities I otherwise wouldn't have had. You don't have to do IA once you graduate. I had a great internship with CIT that I leveraged for a more consultative role within EY. A little extra motivation and one can leverage the program for something better than IA.
