What really seems to set LSU apart from a lot of other schools is not only the quantity of players leaving for the NFL, but the quality, or more precisely, the lack of quality. At A&M they are losing 2 first rounders, which is completely understandable, we lose guys who may not even get drafted, and if they do, they are late round picks.

I would like to see more of an effort in convincing these 4 - 7 round picks to stay in school and finish their education. Even if they are lucky enough to make a team for a year or two, that's not going to be enough money for them for the rest of their lives.

OK, have you done your part as a fan to convince these kids that baton rouge is better than 350k and a shot at the NFL?

I really think that it's outside sources telling them about the amount of money they can make. Missleading them to the max!

You don't get it do you? They're at school to prepare them for a job in their major, which is in all honesty is FOOTBALL. That's what they're preparing themselves to do. The way the new collective bargaining agreement is set up, they need to get that job as soon as possible, because if they do make it to their 2nd contract that's when they'll get paid.

In all honesty, would these early departures have that much of a better chance of making it to that 2nd contract if they stayed in one more year. Probably not.

I agree with you, I would like the marginal 4-7 round players to stay and finish getting their degree, but that will never happen with the NFL dangling $$ in front of these guys.

IMO, NFL team expansion plus the player attrition from that brutal 16 game regular season [plus four preseason] has changed collegiate football forever. Division 1-A schools like LSU are basically 'feeder' programs for the NFL. We taxpayers are left to pay for expensive football stadiums with retractable roofs, and subsidizing collegiate players on scholarships, only to see them 'bolt' for the NFL {some as sophomores].

Where is the NCAA? I thought they were there to stop this kind of stuff. But damn the school that steps out of line on recruiting violations, you'll see the NCAA gestapo descend like vultures on that program and pick it to shreds.

Dale Brown was right!

Care to explain? NFL draft stock = lack of quality?

According to CBS Sports Draft Projections, all early entrants are projected in the first 3 rounds with the exception of Turner.

What do you think the earning potential for a General Studies degree with a sub 3.3 GPA is as compared to one year at $400K? The average starting salary of an attorney in Louisiana is between $50-60K/year.

It's been said 1000 times on this board...it's the new CBA.

Early Entrants
2009-49
2010-53
2011-56
New CBA
2012-65
2013-73
2014-96 Thats a 70% increase from the year before.
