It'd be difficult for someone to be intentionally or accidentally harmed by fantasy football.

No one ever said anything about being harmed. Some hobbies have more inherent risk than others. I know people who ride road bikes and could be harmed by riding them on the road. They are just as enthusiastic as said gun men you spoke of in OP.

It would also be difficult for someone to be harmed by a gun. They are much more likely to be harmed by a person with a gun.

That said, guns are made to be shot...

If you want to talk about a tool that kills people as an unintended consequence of using, lets start with cars.
