still rememebr telling my dad to push against my shoulder because I was scared of the recoil

I remember shooting my grandad's 30-06 when I killed my first deer. My granddad laughed when I got home and told my parents that when the smoke cleared the deer was down. I think he got more excited about us killing a deer than he did when it was him killing one.

You would have thought he had won a million dollars when I killed my first buck. Heck I was excited myself but I think he definitely was more excited.

He had a nice 10 point that hung on the wall my whole life that he killed back in the 70s that would have probably scored around 135-140 and I almost ended up with it a couple months ago before we sold their house. I wanted to give everyone an opportunity to take it if they wanted it and one of my cousins took it and is going to have a new cape put on it. I'll be interested to see what the rack looks like on a modern mount. I've never seen one in person that was as close to being 100% perfect on both sides.

Originally from Madisonville, currently live in BR for LSU, moving to Lafayette for Grad School this summer.

Can't remember my first time fishing... so young. Family owned an on-the-water camp off Bay Batiste, that Katrina took from us. Best times of my life at that camp. Would always go fishing with my uncle but mostly my papa in our little 18' War Eagle flat. Remember vividly fishing off the end of the dock after duck hunts in the winter, we would clean 'em and take the gizzards throw 'em on a hook and pull up some damn nice redfish sometimes drum, but mostly redfish.

I can thank mostly my papa and uncles for teaching me what I know now. Papa always took me fishing. Godfather/uncle took me duck hunting alot and offshore fishing, also bought me all the guns I own as well as preached to me about safety. Another uncle always took me deer hunting, killed my first deer with him at 13 I think.

Currently holding:

Remington 700 .243
Benelli SBEII
Old Remington 870 Youth Magnum 20 gauge

Deer hunt: Utica, MS
Duck hunt: Big Branch NWR
Fish: wherever I can get a ride.
