Absolutely. I know we have had this discussion here before but I will make the point again. The split routine that most people get from bodybuilding magazines is horrible for the average person. A simple 5x5 that employs bench, squat, deadlift, rows, and pushpress is all most people ever need to do. Do it two or three days a week, while eating, and you will be much stronger and much more "ripped" thn your buddies that have an "arm day" and a "back day".

Why is the 5x5 better for the avg person?

I'm digging what you are saying and I have really enjoyed the 5x5. i did it for a few weeks at the end of summer but then quit for half-marathon training; injured my heel running and have been out and re-started 5x5 SL on Jan 1–3 days a week. I really love the workouts and want to stick with it for 12 weeks and see how I do.
