Losing players to draft...

I understand these kids all make decisions that are best for their particular situations, but it seems that at LSU, its the trendy thing to do. Some schools do a better job at keeping kids then others. But doesn't it seem that college football is being watered down like college basketball? Kentucky bb signs the best class every year, they all play one year and are off to the Draft. We are losing half our team every year, so will we ever achieve any stability?

The people that say this don't have a clue as to what's going on at other schools around the country. Bama has already had 4 underclassmen declare for the draft on defense alone.

This is the new stability. It is a new paradigm.

Look around college football, players are leaving before their eligibilty is up. FSU, Alabama, UF, USC, etc... are all losing underclassmen this year

So LSU loses 42.5 players every year?

The most recent contract between the NFL players' union and the league changed the game on players leaving early. That's why we're seeing more and more kids bolt as soon as they can.

Because you keep up with LSU.

To a lesser degree, but yes. It's not going to change. Lots of college coaches have stated they're in a three year time table with players now, and are recruiting as such.

I see what you did there Einstein, you took that literally.

Would you rather have a team that pumps out NFL talent on the reg with a high turnover rate (on par with other elite programs), or have a team that doesn't pump out NFL talent where everyone says 4 years then opens a used car lot?

trendy.
The nearly flat line that begins roughly halfway through the third round is the only trend that's occurring. It simply makes no sense to stay if you don't believe you can crack the second round.

Actually I'd rather have a team of nfl studs who play four years, win championships, then enter the draft....wishful thinkin huh?

shite like this, I don't get it. Why? What value do you bring to this topic, other than fluffing your post count?
Anyway. That's that name of the game at this level, until there is a huge benefit to raising the draft stock I.E. 1st and 2nd round gets PAID and 3+ make pennies, it will never change. NFL should change rookie contract $$ again.
Unlike most here, I don't care if they stay or go, I can't blame them for wanting to make money, I'd do the same thing. That being said, I would be willing for the NCAA to enforce a 4 year rule, because at the end of the day, the BEST thing for these guys is to get their degrees. THEN play football for 10 years.

Figuratively...I was really referring to half our starters, and you knew that.
