I assume the long haired MM is recalling where the serial killer first became apparent. They are on the case for an extended period of time and the long haired one and bald haired Woody are talking about it and the events that lead to solving the case.
It's this.

Bet the preacher filmed this the same time he was in NOLA for Treme.

I finally started paying full attention and I definitely can get into this.

Wouldn't crack be a drug of choice in the 90's and not Meth? I figure meth is more of a 2000 + drug.

Yep this is going to be a great series

It finally got me in the last 20 minutes. I see where this is going. The old flashbacks in the police station looks more dated than the 90s, looked like the 70s.

Fantastic and griping premiere

Meth has always been a big deal amongst truckers. It just hit the "mainstream" in the late 90s early 2000s. But truckers always liked speed

So what are our theories? Think the new cops think Rusty had something to do with it. Think they broke up initially because they arrested a guy and Rusty didn't think it was the right guy.

Two The Wire characters on this. The detective and the bow tie crazy guy

Is Rusty MM?
It always takes me multiple episodes to remember names

I think they are asking a drunk/kicked out of the force former detective about a serial killer who was never caught.

The preacher and medical examiner were both on Treme. Got me interested. I will at least finish this season.

That's pretty spot on. Really like MM's character.
