ETA: Chase Freedom is a good beginner card that usually gets approved but Teddy probably knows better ones out there for travel rewards

And you can rack up those 5x's rewards quarterly, so when you do get the CSR or CSP you'll have plenty of points to transfer over and take advantage of.

Ya I think if I was playing the long game I'd start there, wait another few months and grab Reserve.

Since he's traveling often, he'll probably get some value out of any card that grants lounge access or other perks, so something to think about.

Chases rule really slows some things down.

On the flip side, he might travel so much he may not need points much like us plebs
