Plus the fees are ridiculous at $5,000 just to join the club and then $2,500/yr.

But it basically gives you "status" at most, hotels, car rentals, and airlines. If you travel enough you would pay that without blinking an eye (making that kind of money).

Also FYI... Any active Military do not have to pay annual fees for credit cards

That's pretty cool. I did not know that.

Dodged a bullet with my CSP. I forgot to cancel or downgrade before I got hit with a $125 annual fee. Once I got an e-mail notification, I called them and I was able to downgrade to the Chase Sapphire and have the fee credited next billing cycle.

I upgraded to an AMEX Surpass Hilton card about 6 months ago. The upgrade bonus was 50,000, well now the bonus is 80,000

Anyway, I want to get a Visa card since AMEX isn't taken everywhere. Is it possible to get the CITI Visa Hilton card and link that to my already existing HHonors account?

Amex is gonna have to rethink their entire points program from the platinum and black card perspective. Chase is shiteing on the with the sapphire reserve and JP Morgan reserve. What's more prestigious? That you have a black Amex and spend $250k annually or that you have a JP Morgan reserve card and have $10m+ bc you're a JP Morgan private bank client? The JP Morgan card is $500/year and the black Amex is $7500 in year one. Amex has quite the battle ahead of them to compete across the board but for starters the platinum Amex will need better rewards and sign up bonus. Access to a handful of Amex lounges is not worth it right now
