Have you tried going back to OTR?
I stopped by my friendly neighborhood OTR twice this weekend, and one girl had no clue what to do, and the other said she didn't have a pin. . Looks like they are figuring this thing out and it's definitely a YMMV.

My OTR isn't in a "friendly neighborhood" so I'm not a fan of hanging around there as they try to figure out how to give me over a thousand dollars in cash equivalents.

I did happen by a Valero in Covington this weekend but they didn't carry any cards of any type from what I can tell. Probably try in baton rouge whenever I make it that way.

Ah. I've actually noticed several OTR that definitely aren't listed on site. Might be more in the NOLA area.

Well I was off to a fast start, and haven't had luck since.

Did you see this LINK?

I think I may get this card, and hang up the CC apps for the year.

The 100k AAdvantage Exec card really helped me out for meeting my point needs.

Noticed the thread but never read it. Now I see why someone would want that. That is a hell of a cash back deal on those categories.

Newb CC guy here.

I have the Hilton Hotels Reward CC, but I'm unhappy with it. I guess shame on me for not doing full research. I knew the points were somewhat inflated, but it's crazy they want around 30,000-40,000 points for a night at most hotels.

Anyways, like I said, new to CC and might just want to get rid of this card. Will it hurt my score to get rid of it? Or should I just keep it and keep it active with a few purchases a year?

Any help is appreciated.

If it's your 1st card and you don't cancel it. Convert it to a card with no annual fee and put it in your sock drawer and buy lunch with it every 6-8 months

If you had a gas card with your name on it under your parents account when you were growing up. Cancel it and don't worry about it

Hey Bacon, did you (or anyone else) ever try to get a Southwest Companion Pass? I am trying to get one for 14-15. Received one chase card in the wife's name linked to her Rapid Rewards account and received another chase business card in my name linked to the WIFES RR account. I've read a few places online that sometimes the points will transfer to one account and sometimes they will transfer them to each persons corresponding account. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to apply for another chase southwest credit card in either of our names.

Any help is appreciated. I'll be happy to answer any other questions people might have about cards/churning.

I don't have a companion pass but I can offer a little bit of advice. It's my understanding that transferring UR directly to Southwest does not count towards a companion pass.

Reading the link below may offer some help..

Sounds to me from cmlsu's link that your wife should apply for another SW card since your card points will not count towards the companion pass.

I wondered this as well, but couldn't find a definitive answer, so I just got the biz & personal card for my wife.

I think the question is, "Can I put my wife's RR# on my Chase SW card and it go to her account"?

I would suspect the name on the RR# would need to match the Chase SW card, but I don't know and just got her both cards.

Southwest Companion Pass

Not me... I fly Delta unless I am forced to fly something else. Which hasn't happened in 2 years

Thanks for all the help. Originally, I wasn't referring to UR points, just the rapid rewards points you earn via the Chase SW cards. I may just go ahead and get an additional card for myself.

I bet Chase hates me!

Just got my mail today.

The airlines are out for me.

Got a targeted 50,000 mile w/ 5,000 more with authorized user offer from United. I was going to get this card later this year at the bank (since the 50,000 offer is always at the physical bank branch apparently), but them mailing this to me makes it a lot easier on me to stay in my undies.

Southwest sent the usual 50k offer.

BACON - for flying out of MSY, what airline would you go with? I think American is a good option now with the merger so it services MSY now, but having United w/ my chase cards is nice as well.

I would likely go with American. Don't forget that if you transfer your U.S. Airways miles to AA right now you get a 50% bump. So if you have a 50k U.S. Air offer that equates to 75k AA miles

Do you fly places regularly to see family or vacation?

I hate having layovers flying domestic. United only offers about 10 non-stops from MSY, but one of those is DEN and I fly that at least 2-3 times per year, so the Explorer card makes sense for me.

Southwest offers some great non-stops, maybe 15 or so, for next to nothing on rewards. 5-7k one ways.

AA/Delta are almost always connecting to get out of the SE.

Since being with my now fiancee, it appears we will go to Reagan/IAD regularly as her family is from there.

So far it's been pretty much a us airways or united flight each time.

I guess I should study the routing a bit more. I'm like Louis CK when it comes to air travel. Layovers don't bother me since I just rocketed through the sky

Bacon, I might have to do that. Deadline on that deal known?

Thanks,

Ya, from thinking about it I don't think we've flown into IAD even though its closer to their house. I've only been through IAD once on a layover. I had to walk maybe 15 miles to my connecting gate, so first impression wasn't a good one.

In other news, I didn't see my 7% bonus on my CSP statement today, so it may be next month. The time period of the statement covered 1/05/14 to 2/4/14 so maybe when they say "February statement" they mean the statement that covers the actual month of February? I'll try to remember to post here when it does post on my account.

Afro, in case you are wondering the 5x bonus for my one OTR purchase posted like it should.

I think I got my bonus already, but I honestly can't tell the difference from normal point distributions.
