I think points leagues are more for the casual fans/players. Especially the ones who started playing fantasy football first. It makes that transition a little easier. It's starting to gain some popularity but Roto and H2H categories will always fight for #1

Roto baseball scoring is what created fantasy sports. I think it represents true fantasy baseball but at the same time it's not for everybody. You can pretty much be done by July if you fall out of enough categories. And if you're in one with any roster add/drop/trade limitations it can be very underwhelming and not exciting.
