The Texas name carries more weight than you are wanting to acknowledge. I'm not saying they are in a great spot, but the amount of talent in the area alone, makes it a very easy fix. I also think Charlie really wanted out of UL. I know there is a lot of hubub about Strong mad at UL fans for being terrible, but Bridgewater is leaving, their QB's next year are awful. It was going to be a rough year and moving to the ACC could make it a 3 or 4 win season. Charlie had to move now or ran the risk of dying at Louisville.

Maybe, but the timing and circumstances of the opening made it less than ideal to find a top-tier candidate.

That's a really smart move by him then. I think he could dominate at Texas.
