As long as you aren't putting this on a credit card and this isn't like a super major purchase (i.e., you make a lot of money), go for it. People are going to tell you that you're overpaying (and you are, by a lot), but you'll be getting a good product with a lot of power. The video cards will be outdated long before you'll ever even remotely use even half of that RAM, but those laptops at least have upgradeable GPUs -- so you'll be able to spend $1,000 later on for new GPUs rather than have to buy another $3,000 laptop. But if money is a factor, you are spending too much.

Which model were you going to get? Have you looked at MSI or Asus ones yet?

i have an older m17x that i bought just before dell took over. excellent machine, always wanted one so i got one. handled my WoW years like a champ, cust service was top notch. the only thing i ever had go wrong was the external power supply/brick went out. dell tried to charge $200, same unit on newegg for $45, my wife uses this 6 yr old machine for the sims and streaming netflix. if you have the cash go ahead and scratch it off yiur bucketlist.
