Tara is the temp replacement for the Lee High students.
Parents begged them not to shut down Lee High. It's been home to the magnet school while BR high was being renovated and now the facilities at Lee High need to be replaced. It won't be open again as a high school for years.
Currently Tara students in St. George are bused in from as far away as O'Neal lane and the southwest corner of the parish.
Tara isn't the only problem. There's also need for another middle school (perhaps two) in the St. George area, where students in the southwestern part of the parish are sent past existing Kenilworth and Glasgow schools to attend Westdale in mid city. Students in Old South Baton Rouge are sent down to to Glasgow and Kenilworth despite Westdale being the nearest school (by far).
