They probably wouldn't double, although the school property taxes did double in Zachary when they started their own school district.

At least you're honest about it. If the people there are willing to accept higher property taxes to get their "own" schools, I'm fully supportive of them.

The problem that I see is the leaders of the breakaway effort are lying to the people by telling them no new taxes will be needed. All anyone has to do is look at Central and Zachary to see what happened to their school taxes.

But did Central and Zachary claim sales tax revenue from major commercial properties like the Mall of Louisiana and Perkins Rowe?

Seems like St. George would have a better "endowment" to work with.

You do realize that in Louisiana, the people vote for taxes. I think my neighbors would gladly add a few mils to have a top five school system.

Also, if you actually looked at the Parish budget instead of pulling from your arse you would see there's plenty of money available for the city. Look at the school board budgets and you'd see the same thing.

I understand that you're against this, but do yourea lly have to lie.
