This year it is a crane. We have a few family members that were crane operators or mechanics. It's coming together nicely. There are still a few details to add. We were just glad the boom went up without trouble. I think we could even lift something with it.

Looks badass. It was just a pile if wood a few days ago. thought y'all had given up.
I pass by there 4 times/day during the week. I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

I want a video of the flaming boom crashing to the ground

The boom will be fun to watch. Everyone has a theory of where it will land.

Man, that is awesome....looks pretty dangerous to be around, though...,

How much liquid boyscout will be involved with lighting that thing?

The boom is 40'. We are going to rope it off when we light it.

There will be hydrocarbons involved with lighting it

Awesome. How did yall lift the boom up and how is it supported?
Nice job. Make sure to rope off more than 40' when you light it, that shite will bounce and fly everywhere when it hits the ground.

The boom is attached almost exactly like a real crane. I'll get some better pictures, we were busy today and didn't get the detail pics like I wanted.
We used a truck winch to lift it in place. It lifted perfectly.

is it rope or cable? cause if it is rope that shite is gonna burn fast and the boom will just fall without catching.

This is lifting the boom. It pivots with the mast(I think thats what it's called).

It's cable. It will fall. Most likely the anchor point is going to burn through or the pivot point. No big deal. We have lots of room for it to fall.

Coat it liberally with hydrocarbons. It would be a crime to allow that thing to fall whilst not ablaze

I think someone donated 10,000 fire crackers to lift up and wrap around the boom. Maybe some smoke bombs in the exhaust stack.
