This guy is having a ridiculous season for Arkansas already. He was pretty mediocre last year but check out these numbers as a sophomore already...
26.0 min
14.1 pts
54.7% FG
45.9% 3pt (17 for 37)
70.8% FT
5.0 REB
2.3 AST
0.8 BLK
0.5 STL
1.9 TO
Has a 24.1 Player Efficiency Rating which is elite territory. He's listed at 6'6, 210 pounds and is a college 3 and NBA 2. This is one of those in state guys Trent Johnson didn't even bother to recruit. By the time Johnny Jones got here (this kid is definitely a JJ type of player) he was already completely off the market because he signed to go to Arkansas in the early signing period (late 2011).
Just imagine if JJ had a chance to recruit and sign him. This team would be ridiculous. My guess is JJ wouldn't have gone after Hammink if he could have gotten Qualls.

Without knowing anything of his recruitment it's a safe bet trent didn't even recruit him.

Which was so frustrating because at the time we were so far under the limit for scholarships and Trent wasn't even trying to fill out the roster with guys like this.
6'6, 210 and can jump to the ceiling - didn't even get a second look.

Huntington has become one of top programs in the area and has sent both boys and girls to the razorbacks recently. Once you have alumni pushing ARK it can be tuff to get recruits pointed back to the Tigers.

All pretty similar players this season, dont see the big deal there.
Galloway was likely headed up to St. Joes due to some personal connection, no?

Different regime now.If there's 1 thing JJ definitely doesnt have trouble with, it's recruiting.

I'm sure Galloway is a good player but he wasn't impressive in our game.

Galloway just had a bad game against us.
He's shooting 42% from 3 and averaging 17 points this season

Galloway was slow played if i recall. And he did have a connection to St Joes.
Markel Brown another one.
this is their 4th year in college.

I'll have to say, I have never heard of him untill his freshman year at Ark., and I doubt there was much talk of him on the RB. I do tend to wonder if trying to bring in Shavon Coleman was a factor, but even then though as you said, the roster was still full of scholly spots. It would have been worth a try to get him

Trent just missed out on a ton of good players. What a waste of a hire.

But I doubt he would be averaging that for LSU. We have more weapons than St Joe's (a fact obvious from our game). Not having Galloway isn't nearly the miss that qualls/hammink is.

Keep in mind, once again, Qualls was signed to Ark by October of 2011. Coleman didnt even commit/sign with us until April of the next year. Wasn't Malik Morgan the only commit Trent secured before Johnny Jones got here? I think JJ added Coleman as soon as he was hired.
Qualls was simply overlooked by Trent Johnson.

Even if we brought him in, considering how bad we were at the time, how much of a difference would he have made? The team back then had a talent issue across the board.

missed on a ton, both in terms of the guys we got, and the ones we missed. When you start ranking Johnson's recuits, its embarrassing

What if we brought in ALL the players Trent should have brought in.
Add Markel Brown, Brian Williams, Ricardo Gathers, Michael Qualls and Javan Felix to all of this.

There's not much about the program under Johnson that wasn't embarrasing.
