So, I was on here at one point asking about different building techniques and whatnot(mostly with Roger), but let's be honest, none of you remember that so the first part of this post is basically pointless.
Basically, I'm really into the tiny home movement and decided its time for me to get one of my own. I was discussing earth bag homes, yurts and a few other options, but in the end I went to a shed company and had them put together a nice little 'Cabin' for me. Dimensions are 32x12 with 10' sidewalls and here's what we've got so far...
From the front(4x4s will be replaced shortly with actual logs. They had cut them incorrectly and have to redo them):
Side:
Unfinished Interior....
Loft/future bathroom:
Kitchen/living area:
Interior from up in the loft/bedroom:
And here's a few pictures(in reverse) of how I was initially planning the setup. Was going to do everything in stone, but now I'm really liking the wood look and will probably stick with it(with some form of stone flooring). Note: this was a free app, so the chairs and everything were all I had to choose from. Also, besides the bathroom/utility closet, everything will be open to 'cathedral' ceilings
And a generic floor plan:
So far, I've got 14k in the cabin as it stands and it's sitting on 23 acres. Can't wait to get moved in, but for now, I just wanted to share with somebody
Yes, I'm OT poor.

When my kids are out of my house, me and the better half want to do something similar. What area do you live?
Posted on 12/24/13 at 5:15 pm to Bama and Beer
No SO, but there's room when that happens. And it will be in the Bellefomtaine area of Ohio.

Looks real nice. How much insulation are you putting in the walls? Will this be batts or blown in? How are you insulating the attic/ roof space?
Posted on 12/24/13 at 5:22 pm to 4LSU2
Going to insulate everything, but I have no idea with what at this point. I pretty much know nothing of construction, but dads helping me along the way(he helped build my childhood home). Going to panel the inside with the same siding that's on the outside, with some sort of dark stained wood ceiling. Plan on laying down a pebble stone floor throughout the entire cabin, as well as building a custom pebble stone shower/tub.

Bellfountaine boonieville? Near Marysville and Honda plant. That is out there. I spent a few terrible years in Lima, OH. That is a shitehole of a town.

My dad would be so jealous. He always talks about doing something like that.

Lima is my hometown
Luckily, I was from the 'nice' part of it, but yeah, nit much happening there. I'm in Columbus now, but I want to get back out into the country with some land. Thinking myself and dad will start some some small farm. We're leaning towards deer at the moment, but still looking into everything. And by 'we' I really mean 'me' but he's excited and wants to help

Been there once on vacation, I have some people up in Caldwell County and Shenandoah.
Ohio was nice when I visited, would go back.

Nice. I love cabins. I've been wanting to put one on our land.

Look into a closed cell spray foam insulation for the walls and roof rafters. The R value they can put out is incredible these days and you will appreciate it next winter when you're trying to heat the place.
Keep us posted on your progress. I'm open to come up next hunting season and scout the deer here for your farming operations if needed. I will bring everything I need to keep me contained during my visit.

Was there a digital rendering of how the upstairs will look?

No, I got fed up with the app by that point.
Will just be a bed, dresser and flat screen.

Yep, lived on Oakland Parkway in Lima.
I like what you're doing with the cabin. Hard to beat a place with land and Columbus is a nice place. Not SEC nice but I like the place, especially the Dublin area.

Looks awesome... I'm OT poor too (most people are) and looks like you've done a fine job. Hopefully my future cabin will come together that well.

That is really cool. How many bedrooms upstairs?
Posted on 12/24/13 at 6:22 pm to kywildcatfanone
Just the one for now. I could easily extend the loft out, but at this point I really like having the high ceilings as a bit of a 'wow' factor. And it makes it look a lot larger.

You going off the grid? Is that a composting toilet in the virtual bathroom?
