Jennings doesn't have a weak arm

I wouldn't call Oregon or Nebraska second tier. Oregon has been a top 10 program for the last 5 plus years and Nebraska while down the last several years is just a victim of parody in college football that did not exist in the 70's, 80's when they were competing every year for championships. But they have one of the best fan basis in all of college football and travel as well as any. It is surprising that more D1 schools didn't offer him especially considering the number of schools that look for duel threat.

He really does. He is never going to play QB in the NFL. He showed great poise in the drive to beat Arkansas, but you could see the ball floating a bit, he just doesn't have the arm to really drive it in there. I like him, I'm glad he made the plays he made, but realistically speaking, he has limitations as a QB.

Dude, look at Drew Brees. His arm doesn't light up the strength barometer but has been an excellent NFL QB so there is much fail in your post

Based on one drive? Please go back to the rant

He doesn't need it to be good. His accuracy helps him out a lot, and he just needs confidence and knowing his recievers, to be really good. He reads the field fairly well, and if things are covered, he can salvage yrds with his feet. Might not throw into tight coverage with his arm, but that might be a good thing. Mett had people wide open, and would force it into the wrong coverage, relying on Landy to pull it out. Different styles can find success, can't wait to see what he's got in the Bowl game...

Got this on aquick google search,
quote:
ESPN RISE’s Elite 11 is a quarterback competition for prep athletes.
For the high school class of 2013, the finals for the event took place in July 2012 in Southern California. Six regional camps were held prior to the finals, in Dallas, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia, New York, New York; Columbus, Ohio; Oakland, California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Quarterbacks advanced from the regional sites to the finals, and eleven earned a spot in the "final Elite 11."
Notable Elite 11 alumni include Tim Tebow, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, JaMarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez, Matthew Stafford, Jameis Winston, Andrew Luck, and Troy Smith
Let's hope our boy can play to the level of that these guys did in college.

Book marked.
Arm strength is overrated. Accuracy trumps arm strength all day. If you got both, super. However accuracy will carry you much further than arm strength.

Same reason they passed on Kelvin Sheppard and Perry Riley. Obviously wasn't good enough to play at an elite SEC school
Don't forget Kevin minter.

You're right, based on that list, minus Stafford and Luck.

I think it's because he doesn't throw "on a rope" that people say he has a weak arm
He doesn't have the "laser" like everybody loves, but dude didn't even lean into that throw for 47 yards. He's got enough pepper to make the throw and his no laser arm probably helped him develop better accuracy and touch, instead of just forcing it into double/triple coverages.

If Alex Smith can make a 7 year career out of his arm, Jennings can do the same.

I would be interested to know just how many of these NFL scouts posting here about his weak arm have actually seen one minute of his high school film.
Jennings' arm strength is not elite but it is more than enough to play QB in the SEC and it is not a weakness in his game. At all.
Moreover, his touch and accuracy ARE elite.

blew up his sr season, pretty sure he played baseball for east cobb also, which is a very prominent program. So maybe he didnt put all his time in going to camps as a jr because he was playing baseball all summer. i could be way off though.
A guy like rettig was higher because he played ealier, then got hurt and just built on what he had started before the injury.

Right. Accuracy and touch make a ball muuuuuch more catchable. For example, Cam Newton and Jay Cutler have a cannon but lack touch. Drew Brees lacks arm strength but is super accurate. Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have both. Given this list, I think it is proven that a QB can operate at an elite level as long as he has elite level accuracy.
At this point in Jennings career his arm strength is more than adequate to play QB in the SEC. He also has plenty of time to improve his arm strength to woo NFL scouts.
