I guess I misunderstood this part. Happen to have a link to anywhere it is spelled out with the individual zones?
It's in the LHSAA handbook on their website.

It was 1.14.7 that I was thinking of, but I was thinking of it wrong. There's a feeder jr high school that's closer to one private school than the one it is actually zoned for (both in separate cities). Buddy of mine went to the feeder school and was, thus, immediately eligible for varsity sports at the high school level.
ETA- it just happens to cross diocesan lines. May have something to do with its designation as a 'feeder,' but my understanding of the concept was just off. Thanks for clearing that up

You had winless and 1-loss teams qualify for the playoffs and then, in the end, handed out 9 trophies.
Yeah, it's watered down.

There is a feeder exception. If you attend a middle school where a certain percentage of students go on to attend a private HS, you can petition the LHSAA for immediate eligibility. It's not a cake walk though.

but that's what the principals wanted to do.
Every single "select" principle voted against the split except for Scotlandville (who didn't realize they were a select school and then petitioned the LHSAA to change their vote after the fact.)

This principal was butt-hurt after his school's girls basketball team lost the State Championship to John Curtis. Of course...his school's girls had won twice in the past 5-6 years.

plus most of the class B and C schools voted for the split... not really sure why they dont even have football. just another reason why the split was so stupid.
