The only thing that annoys me about all this is the claims that UT is so much more a destination job than Bama. I don't care for most Bama fans (seriously, almost all of them suck amazingly bad), but it's one of the most storied programs ever, and they have money, even if it's not what UT has. But having money doesn't change history. If he leaves, it's not for the goal of succeeding at a prestigious football school. He's already done that. It would be for money and the challenge of succeeding at three different great football schools.
I think this may be an issue that is somewhat undervalued when trying to assess Saban's motivation for possibly leaving.
Right now the state of Alabama can proudly boast that it's football teams have set the standard for excellence in the country. Aside from that the general perception of the state of Alabama throughout the country is very negative and for very good reasons.
There is absolutely nothing else positive to focus on in the state of Alabama besides football and therefore the pressure is immense and fans borderline crazy. Thanks not to say that Texas isn't crazy about football and the expectations won't be high, but it's not the absolute only thing the entire state depends on.
I also wonder with Saban being Catholic how much the Christian Talibanners and their delusional paranoia and fear mongering might be pushing he and his wife away.

My parents live in Alabama. I can tell you that it is very likely a palpable concern. That place is religiously extremist and weird. With that said, he is one of their Holy Saviors which also fits his ego so maybe it balances out.
