i think their talking about unnecessary 'brutal'
collisions....
they're really uncalled for, i believe in going in hard when there's a play at the plate, but i don't believe you should try and kill the catcher.

I guess he's really trying to worsen the game as he exits.....

at the other 3 bases you're automatically out if you try to barrel over the guy catching the ball.

I find it funny that none of the actual baseball fans on this board have an issue with this rule.

So all the catcher has to do is block the plate...and then what? The ump will basically call a forceout?

Owners and Selig like this
Players, GM's and coaches don't

Yeah, I have no issue with this at all. Anyone that does is very short sighted. This isn't going to pussify the game at all.

I dont think it is a big deal.
Like someone else said at 1se, 2nd, or 3rd you would be out if you tried it, what makes home plat that much different?

I'm a baseball purist. I don't want a thing changed with the game I love. Unfortunately, Selig loves change.

I understand this to a point, but does it really change the game? Violent home plate collisions get you ejected at every level while growing up. How often does a collision dislodge the ball? I'd rather the stars not get injured in something meaningless and play more.

If it's a bang bang play at home plate and a collision occurs, no one should be penalized. However if a player is out by a mile and intentionally trying to kill the catcher, I don't oppose of the rule in that instance.

I'm rounded third...
The play is at the plate...
The play is at the plate...

Well all I want is for a Selig to stand up to a Selid. That's the first block of home plate!
