Does that 350k budget included donated time and material from LSU alumni (such as planes usage and dollar donations)?
Due to the donations, LSU may be spending more than reported. Plus, I am not sure about the accounting but I do know every university probably has a differnent accounting system.
When the press takes all this data and tries to compile the data into a spreadsheet for comparison purposes, the difference in how a university slots its debts and credits may skew the analysis.

You let these extra "coaches" text, call, and visit tier local studs. Shuttle them to our camps, come even work our camps.
This has NCAA sanctions written all over it

No it doesn't. Did you know Cameron robinson's uncle was hired and is a bama staffer now?
He shuttles the Monroe kids to bama events and he works their camps, fact.

quote:Second this! it is factual. And even after the LHSAA suspended both Shows and Guice at WM the NCAA "elected" not to investigate.

That's only 350k accounted for. You don't know about where the rest is at or going.

I'd like to see it, or any link on the rule changes. As I said earlier I have a tough time believing that there is a loophole that would allow us more contact and we aren't using it.
Looks like it hasn't even gone into effect yet

In January, the NCAA adopted 25 measures to deregulate recruiting. Thursday, two of those proposals were put on hold in response to a growing wave of negative feedback from a variety of schools

The concerns centered mostly around escalating the "arms race" environment in recruiting, and in particular the ability of some programs (Alabama, in particular) to hire NFL-style personnel departments to do nothing but recruit. Currently, recruiting can only be done by full-time coaching staff members with on-field duties.

9 month old link. Pretty sure it's active now.

Alabama built a new facility to house recruiting staff and has roughly 25 employed and growing.

I think it was in this thread someone mentioned doing a crawfish boil to get the N and S La kids together. Either way, I contacted LSU Compliance to see if this was feasible. Basically it is not, because of food being an impermissible benefit from a booster. The contact didn't seem to be the biggest concern. Here is the response:

I appreciate you contacting us ahead of time. Unfortunately an event in which fans of LSU and known boosters would cause a serious concern for the program and the signed prospects. As it stands the definition of a booster is very broad and does not just include individuals who donate to the university. Once a “fan” engages in anything beyond saying hello to a prospect (ex: feeding a prospect, providing a gift) they too become “boosters” in the eyes of the NCAA. Some of these NCAA rules are unreasonable and outdated but they are what they are. If you were to do something like this it’s a concern because you would be providing the prospect what the NCAA calls an “extra benefit” (the food) and you would have impermissible contact with the recruit because you would then be considered a “booster.” As fans/boosters you really can’t do anything like that until they start during summer school and are considered “student-athletes” under NCAA regulations. Below are some of the NCAA Bylaws we dealing with. Please note that a “Representative of Athletics Interest” is just a bigger word for “booster.” Also note “e” below…that’s kind of the catch all language the NCAA uses to pretty much categorize a “fan” in this scenario as a booster.

So why are we behind the curve on this matter? Some arse kicking is in order here!

but why aren't we flying Raymond out to visit adoree twice a week? Swing through Texas and hit up Ed Paris, Tony brown, and Jamal Adams while you're at it.
I hope the hell he is coaching his players in there somewhere. That kind of travel is extremely hard on a person who has a job to do and probably a family... Unreasonable expectation.

It's unreasonable to do it now when we practice 1/2 of the next 30 days?
It's unreasonable to hire someone else who can do it full time?
It's unreasonable to have our own scouting department now that it's legal?
This is an arms race, Alabama's last 4 classes were all in the top 7 ranked classes of any school, ever, all time.

Yeah ok so you use they grey area and hire friends of these kids families like bama does, and magically one recruit befriends 20 and your plant has legal access to all.

THIS
Bama/Saban are doing work in the grey area and taking advantage on ANY crack they can slither into.
LSU needs to buck up and get this ball rolling...
Got to work smarter than they have... hire a team of Social networking professionals to teach coaches how to use social media to help them recruit.
USE EVERY TOOL

What about a huge Louisiana football camp? Like a camp combined with a 7 on 7 tournament?

Bump. We should have 10-15 staffers that only recruit 365
