very simple....they got better as the year went on whereas LSU stayed the same. IN fact they were much better in second half against LSU if you remember.

Execution

The Copeland and Mettenberger fumbles were just stupid and probably changed the whole game.

LSU could have easily been up 10 half way through the third quarter by just falling in the end zone and not having miscommunication peer snap.

The game plan looked great until the team fell apart.

It seemed like Auburn ran the same play (zone read?) over-n-over-again and rarely without success.

Because their LB's don't have speed and when you make to the second level it's alawys a big gain. They are built to beat teams like us. They have always struggled against team that run any kind of option with speed. Why do you think JJ seemed to have good games against Bama. I hope having AJ next year we will be able to do the same thing.

Simple. Mett had time to throw in the 1st half (175 yards passing).
He had no time to throw in the second half.

Auburn didn't cough up the ball on the Alabama 1 yard line either.

Its called coaching. Missouri and Auburn both have less talent than other teams in the SEC, yet they are playing in the SEC championship. Changing up the game plan and not being hard headed goes a long way

Shouldn't the question be how did we get it done against Auburn, but Bama didn't?

The lack of Sabans defense not being able to sub in/out do to the no huddle offense was one of the biggest thing. Also Auburn pounded it down their throats on the ground.

Bama was off. Coaching, execution, penalties, were all worse than usual.
Home field helped.
They didn't make many "momentum swinging" mistakes.
They stuck with their game plan and it kept them in the game.
A little bit of luck on top of all of that got them the W..
ON a side note. Did anyone else get the feeling, when Auburn was driving the ball with under 2 minutes left - all running plays - and they were confident and collected and knew exactly when they were going to call timeouts and what not, that we would never ever have that feeling under Miles? I'm not flaming on Miles. I'm just saying.

Bc unlike LSU, auburn got better every week.
Confidence was there, plus obv they make plays when they have to.

Auburn rotates 10 players on the defensive front, which keeps them fresh for the second half. LSU can start that next year if they want to.

Saban out smarted himself by not kicking the field goal and going on 4th down.

They were still ihigh off of the UGA game...home field was rabid...huge rivalry game. Combined with Saban making some conservative calls that kept AU in the game, it all came together perfectly.

Saban plays his own personal Super Bowl vs LSU every year. Simply look at his reactions at the end of the games both last year and this year. He looked like a cat on a hot tin roof for four hours at Auburn. Team was not very well prepared. This would never happen vs LSU

Auburn’s read-option took away Bama’s strength, while LSU ran straight into it. Auburn D schemed better than LSU. Auburn, with less talent just did a better job in the coaching.

The auburn backs hit the holes, ours kept trying to bounce everything to the outside, so auburn stuck to the running game

Because Saban has never beaten an Auburn team that has won at least 9 games.

He is something like 0-6 against them as a Head Coach
