He was just on AFR as I figured this would clear things up for people.

quote:

He was enamored with Nick Saban since he was a sophomore. The allure of playing in their defense was something very important to him. This had very little to do with anything LSU did "wrong" and more that he wanted to leave the state. It just so happens the best program that is out of state is Alabama. The story about the visit not being great isn't really true. LSU will be using Wilson and Haley more in NELA but even if Miles had personally recruited Robinson and Jones, they likely would still have left the state. LSU will begin using its ace recruiters up north to rebuild that fence.

And they need to do so

Totally agree with this.

Happy to hear the truth, and if this is the reason, so be it.

and here we go.... was always Bama. Just like I said a couple hours ago.

Oh well. Good luck to him.

It isnt about getting knocked down, its about getting up.

I believe Miles will fix this issue in the same light he did with Chavis, and Cameron.

Sending Brick up there at the end of this recruiting season instead of waiting speaks volumes IMO

How does Shea Dixon know this for sure. I don't believe he was enamored with Saban since Sophomore year. He changed his commitment date several times because he really was on the fence. This is one person's opinion.

Pretty much falls in line with what I was thinking.

This was no "lifelong LSU fan." He was a really good player that wanted to leave the state. Bama's hot right now so they get him. A few years back USC was getting them. In the early 2000s Miami was getting them. In the 90s it was Nebraska, FSU and Miami. Not everyone in Louisiana loves LSU.

This is a nice perspective to have after a couple of disappointing losses. It's hard to beat the cachet that Saban built with many of the coaches in the state and it's hard to get upset at the recruits that Alabama's success has influenced. If it was any other school, I would wish both good luck. Since it's Alabama, they're tiger bait and are dead to me.

He didn't play us on with the nation watching like Collins did, so I give him credit for that.

OH well, all we can do his hope the kid fails. Nothing personal, but him succeeding is at the direct expense of LSU.

It would suck to see TWO DBs lined up for the red team next year who were 5 Stars from Louisiana in Tiger Stadium though. We need to get this shite together.

Glad to see us changing up our strategy in the area AFTER we lose the two of the biggest prospects from north LA since Rueben Randle. Bama started trending for these guys in the Spring, but we kept things status quo.

Anyone else feel these recruiting pros are going to bat with excuses for lsu in fear of losing their gravy train of inside info from lsu and nothing else?

EXACTLY

as I said the other reasoning was complete BS.. lol at LSU not recruiting him hard enough. They did all they could within the rules and even did the home visit the night before.

He wanted to go there all along with his boys

I'm not buying this. I remember a quote from Hootie a week or so before CRob went Bama where he said he didn't think him and CRob saw eye to eye on their leaders. I think this is Hootie being respectful towards LSU, but I think we were his leaders and we were either out worked or messed up to lose him

I don't buy the wanting to leave the state garbage. One could argue that going to south Louisiana from Monroe is more of a culture change than going to Alabama.

LSU should have thrown a bone to Sims in order to get the other 2 and waited until next year to get a 2 star kicker.

Flame on me if you want. All I know is I can't remember any big name recruits leaving the state when the other guy was coaching here.

Whatever
I guess the "i didnt make the decision until 20 minutes before the announcement statement didnt go so well. So now lets try Ive been enamored by Nick Saban for 2 years maybe that will work.

Who cares about this kid's recruiting anymore. Lets get all in for Jamal and hope he goes down as the guy that got Hootie's rings.
