Any sub-$300 laptops capable of playing Minecraft with no freezing?

Long story short, my young nephew (8 years old) who is a huge Minecraft player wants a laptop for Christmas. I was going to buy him an Xbox or PS4 but he's dead set on a laptop.
I'm okay with this because he'll be able to use it for a few other things as well.
Anyway, I saw the Toshiba C55-A5308 bundle on Best Buy for $299 and I'm just trying to make sure I don't end up with a laptop that underperforms with this particular game. Any other suggestions are welcome as well, I just don't want to get past the $300 range if possible.

Just google the system requirements. I was going to post them for you, but every website with the info is blocked by my works filter. It should take much though since the graphics are garbage... although the world is huge.
ETA:
Recommended specs... not sure if old though.
ETA:
quote:
CPU: Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) 2.6 GHz
CPU Speed: Info
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows XP or better
Video Card: GeForce 66xx or ATI Radeon 9xxx and Up with OpenGL 2 Support (Excluding Integrated Chipsets)
Sound Card: Yes
Free Disk Space: 150 MB
Recommended specs... not sure if old though.

Yeah but don't most games recommend higher specs for better performance? I don't mind spending a little more but $350 really needs to be my max.

I'd think anything with a decent video card and not a chipset would do fine

This one is very similar to the bundle but with 6GB of ram as opposed to 4 for the bundle. I could easily price out the other items individually.

Yep he sure does and I've been asking him several times to confirm. He's not really a gamer, outside of playing Minecraft. He has a PS3 that's collecting dust, which was news to me. I was excited about getting him one of the consoles. He's an outdoor kind of kid.
I don't mind either because he can install other programs that he might use as well.

He's 8 Bruce, I don't think he even knows what mods are.

yeah, i was blown away when my 7 and 6 year old nephew were chatting me up about all the Minecraft mods they use.
of course they instantly thought i was cool as hell just because i've played minecraft.

Shows how much I know. I thought mods meant modifying a computer.
