Don't understand the NFL rules

I don't understand how a reciever has to hold possesion to the groud in the endzone for a touchdown, but all a runner has to do is make the tip of the ball cross the line then can fumble.
I would think you should have to keep possesion of the ball into the endzone until the play is over.

The runner already has possession of the ball.

I don't get how this is so hard to understand that this thread pops up every week

If the receiver has already completed the reception, he does not have to hold it past the plane. However - whether or not a reception is judged completed depends on if it comes out before the receiver either makes a move or is downed.

It is usually not a big deal, but I can see why it looks bad in the game on right now. It just doesn't feel like Cam should get the TD in that situation.

He does per the rules... No question about that. It just doesn't feel like that kinda of play should be a TD... Maybe because the timing was so close, everything thing happened so fast, and the ball never hit the ground.
I can easily see how someone who is not a football fan has a hard time understanding the outcome of that play.
