absence of Louisiana high school QBs at LSU

Over the Saban and Miles years, almost all of the QBs have been from out of state. This includes Davey, Mauck, Russell, Flynn, Lee, and Mett.
The two exceptions are (cough, cough) Jefferson and Perriloux. Is this because of Louisiana high schools run simplistic offenses compared to Texas and California? Some other reason? What gives?
Seems like LSU should get any Louisiana QB they want whose last name isn't Manning.

Maybe Louisiana hasn't had a lot of really good QBs

Many schools put their best athlete at qb, thats part of the issue, the other part is there are very few good high school qb coaches in the state

Most kids that play QB in Louisiana end up playing WR or RB in college.

It's has a lot to do with the population changes and the demographics....Louisiana has changed considerably in the last few years...nuf said...

My $.02. It may have been going on for years, but the success of Kevin Faulk at Carencro at QB encouraged other LA HS coaches to put their best athlete at QB. The pure qbs coming out of LA either went elsewhere or were too raw to spend time developing once they got to college. I think with the increase in 7-on-7 style camps , LSU can land more local qbs.

Louisiana does not produce linebackers and QB's.

I think a lot of people who would be QBs end up playing baseball

Louisiana used to produce the best QBs in America...this site is not going to ever be able to handle the truth, so what's the use of telling it...

Like most just posted, in high school the ball should touch the hands of the best athlete every play.

Like others have said, la schools put athletes there. Hence when Jai Eugene played qb in high school his senior year

If you're looking to bring "demographics" into it, I can guarantee you more tolerance here than most other mainstream sports sites on the internet.

This is the answer.

I've never thought about that. Mahtook and Zach Lee pop into my head right off the bat.
