I don't think Alleva/King have the stroke to hire a bigtime coach. Yes - we can do a lot worse.

I think we all know we could do better, but there just isn't a coach I can think of right now that I'd want to replace him with.

So you start your sentence saying we CAN do better than CLM, and end your sentence saying we CAN'T? Solid

Miles not going anywhere. Even if we dumped yesterday. Any such talk was absurd.
As part of the increase in season ticket prices, LSU should hire a younger guy like Muschamp and name him head coach in waiting. Put him under Miles for 4 -5 years and convert off the Chief in 2 years.
Pay what it takes to keep the elders as well as Frank, etc
Set the program up for the next decade with a long term plan.
Now that would be something worth putting up some extra $ for

Yeap. Use Florida as an example. Hit with serious injury bug like we were last year. LSU still manages 10 wins. Great coaching.

"Head coach in waiting" does not work. (Mushchamp, Holgerson, Fisher) Either the guy ends up leaving or the transition becomes a fiasco.

If we could get Sean Payton then we should go for it. He has done well with the Saints. He would be an excellent recruiter (maybe as good as Saban at recruiting) and good coach.

Ehh, he still makes time out gaffs. Not overly committed to the run like Miles is. which works in college. Payton would also have to go out and recruit a new qb. You cant just sign one guy and ride him your whole career. I still think Les is the rt man for the Job.

I don't like the head coach in waiting route. I hope we don't do that. Les will stay as long as he wants. As long as he keeps finishing at least in the middle of the SEC pack that's plenty good enough for me. You don't want to have too much success then fans start taking the program for granted. It's good to lose a couple to a few games per year. That way we know who the true fans are. A true fan is very happy with 8 or 9 wins per year.

Head coaches are like girlfriends.

You look around and see the one with perkier tits, a rich sickly daddy, and a boyfriend you could run circles around, and you think how great life would be if you had that one.

Because she just has to be a great cook, love giving you foot rubs, and does that "thing" in the sack that drives you nuts, just like the girlfriend you have now, right? Plus, if you had that other gal instead, you'd have all that other stuff, too!

The new girl voted for Obama, refuses to let seafood or game in her house, has a scorching case of herpes, and has an ego so huge she runs off any talented coordinators for fear of sharing the spotlight, or somesuch.

I can list all of Miles' great faults on one hand, and I am running out of optimism that he will correct them, but I daresay we take for granted that all of his favorable talents are a given should we seek a replacement.

At some point, we need to dominate more consistently like we did yesterday.
Get us at least one full year - 2011 was perfect except for 1/9 which turned the entire scene over to AL

You don't want to dominate too much though. The fans will get spoiled.

LSU can't do better than Miles. When he retires we should seriously consider whether LSU keeps a football program. Les is bigger than the program.

It would be nice to do better than Miles though. The key is to wait until the right coach is available instead of firing him at an inopportune time

Retarded.

There's still a "Fire Les" crowd? I jumped off that boat a while ago for reasons you mentioned. No Les means no Cam or Chavis. Unless you can put up with transitioning to a whole new system, you put up with Miles' ADD.
