What is the need for this sentence? It's called an average for a reason. Should we go through all the backs yardage this year and pick and choose which yards actually count?

The point of the sentence is that the Cowboys game was an anomaly. To say he's having a good "season" is a bit misleading. He had a great game. He's not having a good season.

He's having a pretty good second half of the year. Even without the Dallas game, he's averaging 4.0 yards per carry since returning from injury. It's 6.7 if you do include that game, which I would, personally. Sure it was garbage time against a depleted defense, but he's not the only running back in the NFL that takes advantage of that.
