A more regrettable 'early' retirement?

I can't think of any player's 'early' retirement more possibly regrettable than Barry Sanders..
I can't help but think that he must regret it.. but maybe he stuck to his decision out of pride?
thoughts?

I doubt he regrets it. He isn't crippled and he doesn't seem to have any lingering brain injuries.

You apparently care more about Sanders' legacy than he does.

He's said several times he has no regrets. Left at the top of his game and saved himself additional years of the pounding that comes with playing the game. I'm sure he's fine.

Jim Brown
he held all the records, made more money in movies, and spared his body the additional pounding

He's said several times he has no regrets.
And yes, I might care more about maybe the best running back in the history of the NFL's legacy than he did.

Michael Jordan leaving a year to play baseball. His numbers could have been even better.

Like others have said, he seems pretty content with his decision.
You can make a legit argument that he is the GOAT at RB and his body isn't torn up. I think he won at life

Michael Jordan
I wouldn't say that that would be 'regrettable'...

I can't blame either for leaving.

Barry Sanders will always be remembered as one of the greatest RBs in NFL history. You could put him at #1 at the position and you wouldn't get an argument from most people.

MJ believes he's better than most of the guys playing today so he probably regrets is actually retirement.

I think barry retiring early has added to his legacy.

If Sanders had played a few more years he may have begun to appear human as RBs on the back end do.
By leaving when he did, the notion of him as GOAT RB is still intact. Retiring was a great move for his legacy.
